It
is written in the ancient journal of Tibberius Taggerung that those of
the Taggerung clan who are blessed with the black sword of the Warrior
will be named Deyna, after the Taggerung himself. Those with the white
sword, shall be name Filorn/Philip and made chief holder of the
Teggerung clan's fortunes.
Deyna, the bearer of the Warrior's sword, was ostracized when he
announced his bisexuality to the clan. He was disowned when he married
a wolf. He was hated when he married an otter that was not pureblooded.
But he was blessed when Perrin was born. (Though Perrin bears the white
sword of the Taggerung clan, she will not inherit the clan's fortunes.
She is not pureblood, and it is written in the clan's ancient text that
only "one of purest blood" may inherit the fortunes.) The white star
however, is from her mother and just looks cute.
